Give without a get. Overdressing (joyfully) for the Revolution.

Stay safe and warm

It’s going to be brutally cold this weekend. If you’re in New York City and need a warm place, or if you know somebody who might need to take shelter, especially overnight here are some resources: https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-03702

In the meantime, I am grateful for the privilege of being able to work from home, where I get to enjoy the safety and warmth of lightweight layering. Here’s me in a thrifted crochet triangle scarf & Universal Standard tunic, with a homemade (not by me) folky floral shirtdress that I got in a Lucky Sweater trade last year. This is a #Waikerie dress (a Muna and Broad pattern), made by a Lucky Sweater user for herself, then eventually traded for something else.

Lucky Sweater is a membership platform where folks can “look into each other’s closet and trade if you each like something of the other’s. You pay for shipping and you each get an item you’ve always wanted (or at least  since you saw it in their closet). Mostly it’s clothing, but I’ve also traded for a bag and a book (a sewing book!). Once you get used to it, it’s quite a wonder of the circular economy.
