Give without a get. Overdressing (joyfully) for the Revolution.

Unpresidented Times

Today’s the Presidents Day holiday, so am home, maybe doing some baking, pretending to clean, prepping clothes to share on Lucky Sweater, and maybe playing a few rounds of Words With Friends with my nephew.

Since today is about wishing for, or remembering, better Presidents, it’s a great day to remember George Edwin Taylor, the first African-American U.S. Presidential candidate back in 1904. He was a journalist who ran on the National Negro Liberty Party (National Liberty Party) line, whose platform included “unqualified enforcement of the constitution,” reparations for ex-slaves and independence for the Philippines. You know I’m all for freedoms for the 🇵🇭!

For a little bit more about Mr. Taylor, click on the link above for an NPR article, or better yet, enjoy the Drunk Black History podcast about him from 2024.

My featured photo OOTD is a mix of purchased new & secondhand, and is likely up for sharing/donation. It’s the circular economy, folks – reuse, rehome, relove as much as we can!
